Josh Canham (Rebels) – Back from a rd 5 concussion.
Meli Derenalagi (Drua) – Returned from a rd 4 ankle injury to captain the side in Nagusa’s absence.

Sam Slade (Moana) – Back from a concussion in the make-up game between rds 6-7.
Beauden Barrett (Blues) – Started at 10 after recovering from his rd 6 concussion.
Hoskins Sotutu (Blues) – Back from an All Black rest in rd 7.
Rieko Ioane (Blues) – Back from an All Black rest in rd 7.
Josh Goodhue (Blues) – Recovered from a rd 6 concussion.
Tom Robinson (Blues) – Pulled pregame rd 7, we think due to COVID. Was in fine form with 2 tries.
James Lentjes (Highlanders) – Back after being pulled late pre-game rd 7.
Jermaine Ainsley (Highlanders) – Back after being pulled late pre-game rd 7.

Likely back this week (Rd 9):

Lachie Anderson (Rebels) – A late withdrawal before rd 2 with a groin strain. In the post match presser for rd 5 coach Foote said he was nearing a return so this is the last week we will assume his absence is due to injury. Source.
Tamati Ioane (Rebels) – Concussed in rd 5, still didn’t recover for rd 8 so now the timeline gets a bit harder to pick. Source.
Ross Haylett-Petty (Rebels) – Suffering with concussion, hopefully back in rd 8 but like Ioane it is getting harder to know where he is at. Source.
Jeral Skelton (Rebels) – We now know he has been recovering from an ACL injury and was aiming for rd 8. Source.
Will Harrison (Waratahs) – Injured his quad, expected to play in rd 9. Source.
Ben Donaldson (Waratahs) – Tweaked his calf against the Force. Has started running and should play rd 9, after their bye. Source.
Jake Gordon (Waratahs) – Pulled up with a tight hamstring on Wednesday before rd 4. Should return after the by in rd 9. Source.
James Ramm (Waratahs) – Was expected back for a round 7 return from a groin injury. May just not be in the selection frame. Source.
James Turner (Waratahs) – Rolled his ankle during the rd 3 warm-up and was ruled out of the game. Was expected to return rd 7 so now it just depends if he is the top 23. Source.
Lukhan Salakaia-Loto (Reds) – Was seen with ice on his ankle at training on Wednesday so was pulled from the side for rd 7. Apparently he should be good for rd 9. Source.
Suliasi Vunivalu (Reds) – Retore his hamstring during the Wallabies season and apparently has now had 2 surgeries on it. Source. Apparently aiming to return in rd 9. Source.
Jock Campbell (Reds) – Fractured his hand in rd 6 and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Source. Aiming for rd 9. Source.
Seru Uru (Reds) – Suffered a high ankle sprain (syndesmosis) in round 6. Apparently expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Aiming to play rd 9. Source.
Angus Scott-Young (Reds) – Limped off with a knee (MCL) injury in rd 2. Is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Apparently aiming for rd 9. Source.

Henry Taefu (Moana) – Pulled from the starting line late in the makeup game between rd 6 and 7. We assume this was due to COVID which means he could return in rd 8 or 9.
Ray Niuia (Moana) – as per Henry Taefu.
Manu Paea (Moana) – as per Henry Taefu.
Michael Curry (Moana) – Pulled pregame rd 7 with COVID so could be available.
Anzelo Tuitavuki (Moana) – Pulled pregame rd 7 with COVID so could be available.
Tomasi Alosio (Moana) – Suffered a concussion in rd 7 after being hit in the head by Caleb Clarke. Could be back if he recovers well.
Mitch Brown (Chiefs) – Should have been fit to play rd 8 after overcoming his latest surgery. Now it is just weather or not he is selected. Source.
Laghlan Mcwhannell (Chiefs) – Came off with a concussion in rd 7 so may be available this week.
Josh Ioane (Chiefs) – Took a big shot to his ribs in rd 7. The return date is unknown but we would get it is between rd 9 and 11 given the injury. Source.
Shaun Stevenson (Chiefs) – We think he has been eased back into training after having COVID which we would assume means he is availble soon. Source.
Jonah Lowe (Chiefs) – As per Shooter Stevenson. Source.
Tupou Vaa’i (Chiefs) – Expeceted to start this week after sitting out his 10 day concussion protocol. Source.
Sione Mafileo (Chiefs) – Expecetd to be back via this week after being pulled late rd 7 with a sore back.
Dane Coles (Hurricanes) – Is apparently struggling with a calf injury. His return date has now been pushed back to at least rd 8. Source. hurricanes
Isaia Walker-Leawere (Hurriacnes) – Played club rugby in rd 7 in his return from a shoulder injury so could be available this week. Source.
Billy Harmon (Highlanders) – Had a right shoulder operation in October that will keep him out until April. Originally aiming for rd 10 he may be available for rd 9. Source.
Thomas Umaga-Jensen (Source) – His groin injury was only meant to take 4 weeks but he is firming to play rd 9. Source.

New Injuries (Rd 8):

Vinaya Habosi (Drua) – Left the field gingerly. Not sure if he was just subbed or injured.
Chris Minimbi (Drua) – Pulled pregame.
Ray Nu’u (Rebels) – Was given a red card for a high tackle on Stander. Banned for 3 weeks but could be reduced to 2 weeks if he applies to go through the “Head Contact Process Coaching Intervention”. Source.
Byron Ralston (Force) – Pulled pregame.

Shannon Frizell (Highlanders) – Got his leg caught awkwardly in a tackle and was seen getting around on crutches after the game. They think he has done his MCL so he will most likely be out for 4-6 weeks. They are saying it could be the season done. Source.
Manaaki Selby-Rickit (Highlanders) – Also tore his MCL (knee) late in the first half. The coach said he thought he could be gone for the season. Source.
Ardie Savea (Hurricanes) – Looked to be really struggling with a knee injury but played out the game. He will be rested for the Tuesday game. Source.
TJ Perenara (Hurricanes) – Pulled pregame with a back injury.
Asafo Aumua (Hurricanes) – Pulled pregame.
Pablo Matera (Crusader) – Pulled pregame.
Quinten Strange (Crusaders) – Went down badly with what looked like an Achilles rupture, fingers crossed it is only a calf tear.
Anton Lienert-Brown (Chiefs) – Came off with a shoulder injury in just the seventh minute. Had surgery and will be out for 6 months. Source.
Kaleb Trask (Chiefs) – Pulled pregame.
Emoni Narawa (Chiefs) – Pulled pregame.
Finlay Christie (Blues) – Pulled pregame with an unkown injury but will be fit for rd 9. Source.
Sam Nock (Blues) – Will be sidelined for up to three weeks with a broken bone in his hand. Source.
Sekope Kepu (Moana) – Came off injured and won’t play on Tuesday. Source.
Luteru Tolai (Moana) – Came off injured and won’t play on Tuesday. Source.

Western Force
Tom Robertson – Injured his calf in rd 4 and not listed for rd 5. Source.

Chris Feauai-Sautia – Suffered a hamstring injury at training on Wednesday before rd 5. Source.
Tom Banks – Copped a red card and fractured his cheek at the same time. We’d think he is gone for at least 6 weeks bu apparently could be back as soon as round 11. Source. He did not receive a band for the red card. Source.
Noah Lolesio – Suffered an ankle sprain in rd 5. Now targetting a rd 10 return. Source.
Jesse Mogg – Suffered a knee injury in rd 7 (we suspect a PCL injury given he jumped and landed on the point of his knee). Apparently out for at least 6 weeks so could return for rd 14. Source.

Dane Zander – Copped a red card for a head-high tackle in rd 6 and was given a three-week ban. Back for rd 11. Source.
Alex Mafi – Had two bones in his neck fused after rd 3. Expected to be out for 12 weeks. We think it could end his season. Source.
Ilaisa Droasese – Still in Fiji living the good life. Has not turned up to training yet as of round 6.
Liam Wright – Pulled from the side during the rd 7 warm-up after hurting his ankle. Had surgery, we think for a syndesmosis injury, so is probably out for 3-4 months.
Josh Nasser – Injured his pec in rd 7 and will be out for an extended period of time. Source.
Tuaina Tali Tualima – Copped a red card in rd 7 and will serve a 3 week ban. Should be available for rd 12. Source.

Trevor Hosea – Fractured his foot. Aiming to return Rd 12-13. Source.
Pone Fa’amausili – Struggling with a calf injury. Aiming to return rd 11-12. Source.
Rob Leota – Out with a hamstring injury to start the season. Aiming to play rd 10-11. Source.
Josh Kemeny – Expected to miss the majority of the season coming back from an ACL injury. Source
Joe Pincus – Has a groin injury. Return date is still TBC. Source.

Ned Hanigan – Playing in Japan until the end of their 2022 season. Expected back in 3 weeks as of rd 8. Source.
Mosese Tuipulotu – The young centre is injured and won’t be available to play. Will be out until at least rd 11. Source.
Lachie Swinton – Hurt his shoulder late in the drought-breaking win over the Drua. His return date is still undecided as he recovers from a nerve injury, but he isn’t expected to return any time soon as of rd 8. Source.
Max Douglas – Pulled from the side late before rd 4 with an injury. He isn’t listed as unavailable by the Waratahs. Source.
Jeremy Williams – Tore his hamstring pilfering a ball and being forced into an overstretch type injury. Generally, I fear the worst for these ones, but he had the ice on his mid hamstring, so fingers crossed it is no more than 4-6 weeks. The Tahs are saying he is aiming for rd 11 or later. Source.
Lalakai Foketi – Suffered a quad injury.
Geoff Cridge – Suffered an ankle injury.

Solomon Alaimalo – Tony Brown said he was again unavailable due to personal reasons. There is no timeframe on his return. Source.
Rory van Vugt – Broke his wrist in the trial of three halves on the 12th Feb. We suspect he will be out for six weeks. Source.
Christian Lio-Willie – Broke his hand in the lead up to their final trial. We suspect he will be out for roughly the first four weeks of Super Rugby. Source.
Josh Timu – Tore his PCL in rd 2 and will miss 6 weeks. Wasn’t name dropped as likely to play rd 9 though. Source.
Liam Coombes-Fabling – Came off with a knee injury that will keep him out for between 2 and 6 weeks. Source.

Simon Parker – Out with a niggly injury that could have him out long term as of rd 7. Source.
Gideon Wrampling – Picked up an injury in the NPC and had surgery. Could be back in rd 9 or 10. Source.
Brodie Retallick – Came off with a fractured thumb in rd 6. Could be out for 8 weeks, which would make him touch and go for finals. Source.

Owen Franks – The returning All Black was originally said to miss the entire season with an Achilles rupture and repair. Source. Now he is aiming to return on April 8th against the Hurricanes. Source.
Dominic Bird – His shoulder surgery is now expected to take him until late July. Source.

Jack Goodhue – Ruptured his ACL in April 2021. It sounds like he is targeting a 12-month return, meaning he will miss a large amount of SR Pacifika. Source.
Sam Whitelock – Set to miss the next four weeks of Super Rugby with a broken finger. This puts his return at rd 11. Source.
Brodie McAlister – Injured his calf in rd 6. Could be out for 6 weeks. Source.
Shilo Klein – Copped a rd 7 red card for a shoulder to de Groot’s head. Will face a 3 week ban. Back rd 12. Source.

Akira Ioane – Ruled out of round 2 late with a Lisfranc Injury. Now aiming to play in rd 10. Source.
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck – Forced from the game in rd 3. Aiming to return for rd 10. Source.
Nepo Laulala – Copped a red card in the rd 1 makeup game between rds 6 and 7. Copped a 3 week ban. Source.
Caleb Clarke – Got a red card in rd 7 for jumping to charge down a ball and connecting with the opposition’s head. Banned for 3 weeks so will return in rd 12. Source.


Fiji Drua
Ratu Rotuisolia – Came off after only 19 minutes clutching at his hamstring in rd 4.
Nemani Nagusa – Banned for 4 weeks in rd 7 from his high tackle. Back rd 13. Source.

Moana Pasifika

Gone for the season:

Alivereti Veitokani (Drua) – Has a major knee injury. Expected to return to rugby in 2023. Source.
Joey Walton (Waratahs) – Has done his second ACL in only his second session back for the Waratahs back in October 21. Will miss the entire SR Pacifika season. Source.

Dillon Hunt (Blues) – Forced into early retirement due to Concussion. Source.
Harry Plummer (Blues) – Has already had surgery n his shoulder and will miss the rest of the year. Source.
Patelesio Tomkinson (Highlanders) – will miss the entirety of the inaugural Super Rugby Pacific season after injuring his foot while playing for Otago. Vereniki Tikoisolomone has been called up as his replacement. Source.
Pari Pari Parkinson (Highlanders) – Suffered a “multi-ligament knee injury” in November 2021 (this will be ACL plus others). He won’t be back for roughly twelve months. Source.
Jona Nareki (Highlanders) – Ruptured his ACL last August. Even a 9-month recovery wouldn’t have him back until May. Source.
Nathan Harris (Chiefs) – Has had to retire due to chronic ankle pain. Source.
Reuben O’Neill (Chiefs) – Out for the year. Thank you to Tom Vinicombe for the inside scoop.
Fraser Armstrong (Hurricanes) – Retired due to injury. Source.
Mitch Dunshea (Crusaders) – Tore his MCL and had surgery on it on Tuesday the 29th of March. He will be gone for the season. Source.
