2019 OG League Rd 13 Results

With the end of Round 13 the playoff picture continues to take shape. There are five weeks left and seven managers are still in line to play finals, check out how the week played out here in the OG League Blog.

Marximum Louw Groomed Maddogs 596 defeats 423 Clan Mckenzie
Wylie has been searching for answers the last few weeks as his once dominant fantasy rugby side had gone sliding down the table. What better way to restore some confidence than by thrashing the competition wooden spooner "Loser Harry"! Wylie's top dog of the round was form halfback Brad Weber (75 points), who bagged a double against the Sharks. Malcolm Marx (58), Patrick Tuipolotu and Beauden Barrett (57), Matt Todd (56) and Duane Vermuelen (50) all had blinders, with Reece Hodge (49) and Ngani Laumape (43) also chipping in for Wylie's big rd 13 score. Like in life, you need to look on the bright side in fantasy footy, yes Larry is now 15 points adrift of 7th place with only five rounds to go, yes that does mean he will most likely be getting his sexy calendar outfits out of storage, but this week Larry's 423 points ranked a lofty 6th! After a run of OG Draft weekly low scores Larry has climbed to new heights this week, his next challenge will be to grab a competition win that has eluded him since round 8. Ramiro Moyano (67 points) held the team together this week, while solid performances from Elliot Dixon (41) and no one else, also helped bring his score to an almost respectable total. Wylie owns the match-up at 2-0 in 2019.

Coles-Royce 612 defeats 396 The Great White Hope
A top 4 clash is always going to come with significant competition repercussions with such a tight table. Cargie was faced with either taking down the 2nd ranked Blake, or seeing his Coles-Royce team drop into competition obscurity nearing the end of the season. As it happened, Blake's side failed to fire with the lowest score of the week despite a full side of 15 men. Richie Mo'unga (69 points) did his part scoring a brace of tries, Tom Banks (51) cashed in against the Sunwolves and Rob Thompson (42) did what Thompson does every week, but that's all The Great White Hope could muster as he slid down to 4th place on the table on 38 points, only 3 and 4 points ahead of 5th and 6th respectively. Another loss and he could be competing for the spoon rather than the OG Draft trophy after round 18! Cue Cargie's creative bragging. Round 13's team of the week, Coles-Royce, scored heavily through his lesser known fantasy players Dane Haylett-Petty (62 points) and Pete Samu (61), who seems to have a new lease on life since being traded away from Call me big Papali'i. Kieran Read (56) who had his best game of the year. Cargie's "Ride or die" Akira Ioane's (59) return to form will have him cheering the loudest, while Sean Wainui and Josh Ioane (52), Tevita Kuridrani (56) and Taniela Tupou (42) also scored well. The bragging rights will stay at 1-1 for this one, unless they get their chance to settle the score come finals.

White Linen Hides the Sinning 441 defeats 405 Call Me Big Papali'i
Nsync's White Linen Hides the Sinning refuse to go away, after looking down and out a few weeks ago, he has kept himself in finals contention with a solid win over competition leader Harry. The win has him within striking distance on 29 competition points, only 9 points behind 4th place Blake. Nsync's points came via Michael Hooper (66 points), who played out of his skin in South Africa, while Will Genia (43) also scored well. A host of other players score in the 30's for the Rugby league fan, but they haven't done quite enough to deserve a mention. Call me Big Papali'i was always going to do it tough when last weeks trade Lachlan McCaffrey and Guido Petti backfired, both being no shows this week. Add to that a rest for 'Big Sauce' Tom Robinson and Sam Whitelock, and Harry was trying to get the job done with 12 players. Those that did take the field scored well, especially Curwin Bosch (61 points) who is an absolute weapon playing at fly half, while Kurtley Beale's (59) move the opposite direction to the 15 jersey has brought his game alive. Ardie Savea (58) scored his usual half century but that's all she wrote though for Harry, as he was lucky to bag himself a losing bonus point to keep the wolves away, his lead cut to 5 points on the leader board over both Wylie and Cargie. Nsync continues to make Harry his bitch with a 2-0 record in their head to head match-up.

Burnin' Bridges 495 defeats 440 Otere is the new Black
Dubbed "The fight to stay relevant", 6th placed Nabung took on 5th placed Nelson as they each tried to climb into the top 4. In round 1 Nabung's Burnin' Bridges took home the spoils, and this week was no different. His Namesake George Bridge (92 points) claiming the Fantasy man of the week, while Aphiwe Dyantyi (79) came in 2nd place. Nabung would have been gutted that both Shannon Frizzell and Amanaki Mafi couldn't complete his 14 man side this week, but when Sekope Kepu (60), Jack Goodhue (52) and Dalton Papali'i (43) tore it up in their games, it was always going to be hard to see anything but a Burnin' Bridges victory. Cue the "match-up killer" Sevu Reece (68 points). Who'd have thought that he wouldn't bring Nelson home the win, let alone be the best scoring Crusaders back. Liam Coltman (65) had a blinder, while Anton Lienert-Brown (50) is surely close to locking in his spot in the fantasy team of the season. Kwagga Smith (45) had a blinder for the Lions, but that's where the noteable performances stopped. In the end, holding onto Michael Little and playing Braydon Ennor (-1) off the bench cost Nelson at least 2 competition bonus points, and possibly the win that would have taken him into 4th place. Instead Nabung leapfrogs Nelson into 5th, while also dominating their head to head match-up 2-0.
