2019 OG League Rd 8 Results

With round 8 we have had the first repeat fixtures meaning head to head dominance is well and truly up for grabs. Check out all the results from the OG League for round 8 below.

Marximum Louw Groomed Maddogs 561 defeats 469 White Linen Hides the Sinning
In week 8 the rich got richer as 4 of the top 5 took out wins, what's more, the top score went to none other than front runner Wylie, as Marximum Louw Groomed Maddogs scored 561 points to extend his lead to 3 competitions points over his nearest rivals. This was always touted as David versus Goliath, 1st versus 8th, the only caveat was that the Giant did it Easssyyyy! Nsync scored well through Halfback fantasy gold Will Genia (65 points) and bum come Mr consistency Bryce Hegarty (58). While Scott Higginbotham (47), Duane Vermeulen (46) and Ryan Crotty (44) also proved their worth. Sadly though, his solid free agent pick ups Malherbe (5) and Faddes (18) both failed to live up to the hype. Having had his time again, surely he would have picked up Sevu Reece (99) with his 1st round priority pick. Meanwhile Wylie went from strength to strength with Lizo Gqoboka (63 points) of all people top scoring. The prop has well and truly turned his own season around. Big scores also came from Ngani "the mini bus" Laumape (59), under fire Beauden Barrett (55), Dan "the lesser" du Preez (50), Patrick Tuipulotu (49) and Malcolm Marx (42). After 2 games, this one sits Wylie 2 - Nsync 0.

Coles-Royce 454 defeats 453 Otere is the new Black
By a bees dick! This one was so close that Nelson literally contacted our stats provider to work through some discrepancy's between our stats and what we could find through Ultimate Rugby's website. Sadly for him it was all in vein, as they knew who really paid the bills for Draft Rugby. Cargie's Coles-Royce reinvented himself this week with a massive 7 player trades in his 23 man squad, his either extremely lucky or a genius, because he has "played the man" to perfection! Ted Flanigan (-2) and Filipo Daugunu (-3) both went off early, but it was more than made up for by BLAM (63 points), Hendrik Tui (51), Tevita "Choo Choo" Kurindrani (50), Will Jordan (49) and "the second coming" Ma'a Nonu (44). Nelson's "Otere is the new Black" put up a fight with Fantasy man of the round and all round freak of nature Sevu Reece (99 point), as well as Tate McDermott (65) and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto (52). But ultimately he bit himself in the bum playing a man down (Ennor & ALB on the bench), because the rest of his team were absolute junk. Cargie extends his lead over Nelson, 2-0.

Burnin’ Bridges 458 defeats 427 Clan Mckenzie
The best thing about Draft Rugby is the rivalries, and this could be a fresh one. Nabung thought he'd dropped the game until a missed Julian Montoya (36) turned the tide in his favour, bagging him both a win and an attacking BP, and with it he stays just 3 points outside of the finals. Lukhanyo Am (73 points) went berserk against the impotent Lions, while Shannon Frizell (65), Israel Folau (61) and TJ Perenara (53) continued to do with they do best - Folau bagging his 60th try to become the top Super Rugby try scorer of all time. While Larry slides further adrift in 7th place despite a huge game from Makazole "Ma Pimpi" (84 points), and good support through Brandon Paenga-Amosa (50), Scott Barrett (49) and Isi Naisarani (47). In the end he'll be cursing the injury to Blake Gibson (8) and form of Karmichael Hunt (-5). The rivalry grows with the head to head reading 1-1. Who will bag the decider in round 15?

Call Me Big Papali’i 560 V 511 The Great White Hope
Speaking of rivalries this one has been growing since Blake first came onto the seen around 2015. The two have fought out a number of finals, often ranked 1 and 2 at the end of the season, and this seasons results have been more of the same. Blake's "The Great White Hope" may have taken round 1, but Harry got him to Call him Big Papali'i this week with the 2nd top score of the round. Blake leaned heavily on Samu Kerevi (83 points) as he took the Stormers to school this week, while solid scores came across the board from Richie Mo'unga & David Havilli (56), Bill "escaped a red card" Meakes (48), and the BEAST (47). Harry nervously played with Bongi Mbonambi (9) off the bench, but thankfully for him Ardie Savea (86 points) went mental with 2 tries, as did Pablo Matera (63). His reunited center pairing also showed their class with Andre "The Giant" Esterhuizen (68) Damian de Allende (53) going big. The win has Harry leapfrog Blake into 2nd place by only total points scored (3812 Vs 3707). The rivalry continues, with the season match up sitting at 1 a piece. Big game coming in round 15.
