The first Finals edition of the Casualty Ward for 2022 is here to deliver all your injury news. In this edition, we only keep the players from teams still competing in the competition. We stay on top of all the latest news, with the added insights of our team's Physiotherapist and Podiatrist.

Liam Wright (Reds) - Back from having syndesmosis surgery in rd 7.
Jed Holloway (Waratahs) - Back after being rested in rd 14.
Archer Holz (Waratahs) - Back after being pulled pregame last week.
Rahboni Warren-Vosayaco (Waratahs) - Copped a knock at training and missed rd 14. Came off the bench in rd 15.
Langi Gleeson (Waratahs) - Had a knee injury that kept him out of rd 15. Source.
Brodie Retallick (Chiefs) - Back from fracturing his thumb in rd 6.
Josh Ioane (Chiefs) - Came back via the bench.

Ethan De Groot (Highlanders) - Started this week after missing rd 14 after taking a shot on the shoulder in rd 13.

Jermaine Ainsley (Highlanders) - Returned from illness this week.

Hunter Paisami (Reds) - Missed rd 14 after reaggravating his shoulder in rd 13. Back via the bench this week.
Isaac Henry (Reds)- As of rd 9 he has a hamstring injury. Flew over to NZ for the quarter-final but wasn't selected.. Source.
Harry Johnson-Holmes (Waratahs) - Came off with a knee injury in rd 11 and is only an outside chance of playing in the quarter-finals. Source.
Luke Reimer (Brumbies) - Tore his MCL (knee) in rd 14 but back starting this week. Source.
Laghlan Mcwhannell (Chiefs) - Came off with a concussion in rd 7 so may be available this week. All players that don't have season ending injuries could be available this week, so we assume this includes him. Source.
Sione Mafileo (Chiefs) - Expected to be back via this week after being pulled late rd 7 with a sore back. All players that don't have season ending injuries could be available this week, so we assume this includes him. Source.
Shooter Stevenson (Chiefs) - Injured his right knee as he twisted in a tackle in rd 9. Was seen with a brace on later during the game. Expected to be out for 2-3 weeks. Source.
Etene Nanai-Seturo (Chiefs) - Listed as unavailable in rd 14 in a group we assume have COVID. Source.
Kaylum Boshier (Chiefs) - Was a late out for the Force game through non-Covid-related illness so we assume he will be fit this week. Source.
Mitch Hunt (Highlanders) - Missed rd 14 and 15 with a concussion. Source.
Shannon Frizell (Highlanders) - Tore his MCL in rd 8. Expected to be available to play the quarters. Source.
Rieko Ioane (Blues) - Expected to return from his torn hamstring. Source.
Richie Mo'unga (Crusaders) - Expected back after missing 2 weeks with Misses his second straight week with a finger injury in rd 15. Source.
Codie Taylor (Crusaders) - Ruled out for the last two round games due to a rib injury that had him replaced at halftime in rd 13. Source.

Dave Porecki (Waratahs) - Rated as only a 50-50 chance of play this week due to an ongoing neck complaint. Source.
Matt Faessler (Reds) - Came off the field with a bad looking concussion after 5 minutes trying to tackle Cullen Grace. Source.
Tom Hooper (Brumbies) - Pulled pregame. Named to play in the quarters.
Bryn Hall (Crusaders) - Pulled pregame.
Sevu Reece (Crusaders) - Came off after 8 minutes with a concussion.
Kaleb Trask (Chiefs) - Came off with a concussion early in the match and won't play in the quarters. Source.
Anton Segner (Blues) - Came off with a suspected broken leg.
Marcel Renata (Blues) - Came off injured in the 2nd half.
James Lentjes (Highlanders) - Injured his right shoulder, played on for 5 minutes before succumbing to the injury. In doubt for the quarters. Source.
Sekope Kepu (Moana) - Given a 3 week ban for his red card hit. Source.

Brumbies
Chris Feauai-Sautia - Suffered a hamstring injury at training on Wednesday before rd 5. Source.
Jesse Mogg - Suffered a knee injury in rd 7 (we suspect a PCL injury given he jumped and landed on the point of his knee). Apparently out for at least 6 weeks so could return for rd 14. Source.
Rob Valetini - Injured his hamstrnig in rd 13. Expected back from the quarter final. Source.
Reds
Alex Mafi - Had two bones in his neck fused after rd 3. Expected to be out for 12 weeks. We think it could end his season. Source.
Zane Nonggorr - Injured his knee before rd 9 and will be out for 6+ weeks. Source.
James O'Connor - Had a low-grade hamstring injury in rd 14. Expected to miss 4 weeks. He is an outside chance of playing in the semi-final if they make it that far. Source.
Waratahs
Lachie Swinton - Hurt his shoulder late in the drought-breaking win over the Drua. His return date is still undecided as he recovers from a nerve injury, but he isn't expected to return any time soon as of rd 8. Source.
Izaia Perese - Came off with an MCL injury rd 13. Rated as an outside chance of playing in the quarter-finals but wasn't selected. Source.
NEW ZEALAND
Highlanders
Solomon Alaimalo - Tony Brown said he was again unavailable due to personal reasons. There is no timeframe on his return. Source.
Manaaki Selby-Rickit - Tore his MCL (knee) in rd 8. Looks like he will only be fit for a semi-final. Source.
Chiefs
Simon Parker - Out with a niggly injury that could have him out long term as of rd 7. Source.
Gideon Wrampling - Picked up an injury in the NPC and had surgery. Could be back in rd 9 or 10. Source.
Sam Cane - Came off with a knee injury in rd 14, apparently it isn't expected to be too bad, but won't play until the semi final. Source.
Josh Lord - Twisted his knee in training before rd 14. Now expected to only return in the semi's. Source.
Hurricanes
Pepesana Patafilo - Listed as unavailable for rd 10. That means the earliest he could play is rd 12 after their Aus tour. Source.
Devan Flanders - Injured his knee in the first 20 minutes between rd 8 and 9. Source.
Reed Prinsep - Pulled pre-game with an injury in rd 10. Source.
Crusaders
Quinten Strange - Went down badly with what looked like a big calf tear in rd 8. Should be out for up to 8 weeks. Source.
Hamish Dalzell - Red Carded for a high shot on Hooper in rd 11. Banned for 3 weeks but it could be reduced to 2 weeks. Source.
Sione Havili Talitui - Came off the field early with a hamstring injury in rd 11 and is waiting for scans. Source.
Blues
Caleb Clarke - Tore his hamstring against the Brumbies. Expected to miss 4 weeks which is the season, but they believe he could potential play a semi or grand final. Source.
Gone for the season:
Joey Walton (Waratahs) - Has done his second ACL in only his second session back for the Waratahs back in October 21. Will miss the entire SR Pacifika season. Source.
Will Harrison (Waratahs) - Came off with an ACL and MCL tear as well as damaging something around his knee cap in rd 10. He will have surgery in roughly a month and will likely return to play 9-12 months after that. Source.
Josh Nasser (Reds) - Injured his pec in rd 7 and will be out for the season. Source.
Taniela Tupou (Reds) - Expected to miss the remainder of the season with a calf injury suffered in rd 11. Source.
Josh Flook (Reds) - Dislocated his left shoulder in rd 14, going for surgery later this week. Source.
Albert Anae (Reds) - Had surgery on a ruptured tricep after rd 13. Source.
Dillon Hunt (Blues) - Forced into early retirement due to Concussion. Source.
Harry Plummer (Blues) - Has already had surgery n his shoulder and will miss the rest of the year. Source.
Tanielu Tele'a (Blues) - Has apparently ruptured his ACL and will be out for the season. Source.
Patelesio Tomkinson (Highlanders) - will miss the entirety of the inaugural Super Rugby Pacific season after injuring his foot while playing for Otago. Vereniki Tikoisolomone has been called up as his replacement. Source.
Pari Pari Parkinson (Highlanders) - Suffered a "multi-ligament knee injury" in November 2021 (this will be ACL plus others). He won't be back for roughly twelve months. Source.
Jona Nareki (Highlanders) - Ruptured his ACL last August. As of Rd 10 he said he was a month off returning to club rugby. Source.
Gareth Evans (Highlanders) - Ruptured his pec in rd 10. Will have surgery and miss the rest of the year. Source.
Sam Gilbert (Highlanders) - Copped a rd 14 red card after a bad tip tackle on Michael Hooper. Has been given a 5 week ban which will rule him out of the remainder of the season. Source.
Anton Lienert-Brown (Chiefs) - Came off with a shoulder injury in rd 8. Had surgery and will be out for 6 months. Source.
Nathan Harris (Chiefs) - Has had to retire due to chronic ankle pain. Source.

Dominic Bird (Hurricanes) - His shoulder surgery is now expected to take him until late July. Source.
