Returned from injury (Trans Tasman Rd 1):
Ngantungane Punivai (Highlanders) - Back from his quad cork via the bench.
Pari Pari Parkinson (Highlanders) - Returned following a flare-up of his previously operated on ankle.
Jonathan Taumateine (Hurricanes) - Recovered from a rd 7 ankle sprain to play via the bench.
Will Harrison (Waratahs) - Returned from his rd 8 hamstring tear via the bench.
Hugh Sinclair (Waratahs) - Was unavailable for club rugby during the Super rugby finals due to an injury but played in the second row this week.
Jake McIntyre (Western Force) - Returned from a rd 6 hamstring injury.
Rob Kearney (Western Force) - Back from a pregame rd 9 quad tear.
Suliasi Vunivalu (Reds) - Back from a hamstring tear in rd 6 via the bench.
Likely back this week (Trans Tasman Rd 2):
Josh Ioane (Highlanders) - Looks like he is touch and go for Rd 2 with his ankle injury. Source.
Shannon Frizell (Highlanders) - Missed last week after allegedly being involved in an assault on a woman at a Dunedin bar. Back available for selection. Source.
Naitoa Ah Koui (Chiefs) - Was rested for round 1 of Trans Tasman because he was banged up from the grand final. Source.
Samipeni Finau (Chiefs) - Came off in rd 10 after injuring his shoulder. Will be right for rd 2 of Trans Tasman. Source.
Atu Moli (Chiefs) – Had FAI (hip impingement) surgery on both hips to treat chronic hip dysfunction. Missed the entire 2020 season. Huge to see him back this week! Source.
Sione Havili (Crusaders) - Suffered a concussion in the grand final warm-up. Likely to be available this week.
Will Jordan (Crusaders) - Missed last week with a minor foot injury, back for this week. Source.
Mitch Drummond (Crusaders) - Back after being rested last week. Source.
Scott Barrett (Crusaders) - Was scratched from the Brumbies match after feeling unwell but is expected to be back this week. Source.
Alex Hodgman (Blues) - Back from a high tackle 3 week ban this week. Source.
Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues) - Hopeful of being fit from a neck injury for this week. Source.
Dalton Papalii (Blues) - Suffered a knee injury in rd 9. Hopefully of being fit for this week. Source.
Ngani Laumape (Hurricanes) - Back after being rested last week. Source.
Jack Dempsey (Waratahs) - Suffered a stress fracture in his foot after rd 5. A chance to play rd 2 of Trans Tasman. Source.
Tom Cusack (Brumbies) - Suffered a hamstring injury in rd 8 and was touch and go for rd 1 of Trans Tasman. Source.
Trevor Hosea (Rebels) - Ruled out for 2 games after being cited for "foul play in a ruck" in rd 9. Eligible for selection from rd 2 of Trans Tasman. Source.
Isi Naisarani (Rebels) - Given a 3-week ban for his red card in rd 9. Back for Trans Tasman rd 2.
Pone Fa'amausili (Rebels) - Also given a 3-week ban for his red card in rd 9. Back for Trans Tasman rd 2.
Harry Wilson (Reds) - Suffered a concussion in the grand final so he is likely right for this week.
Alex Mafi (Reds) - Suffered a concussion in the grand final so he is likely right for this week.
New Injuries (Trans Tasman Rd 1):
Ruben Love (Hurricanes) - Taken off on a stretcher but was later cleared of serious neck injury. Likely to miss one week. Source.
Tevita Mafileo (Hurricanes) - Picked up a knee injury after he was hit late and high during a Hurricanes try movement. In doubt to play rd 2. Source.
Tom Sanders (Crusaders) - Broke his nose and failed a concussion test. Unknown if he will be fit for Rd 2. Source.
James O'Conner (Reds) - Failed a concussion test at half time so will go through their HIA protocols. Source.
Josh Flook (Reds) - Failed a concussion test so will go through their HIA protocols. Source.
Ongoing Injury List:
AUSTRALIA
Western Force
Byron Ralston - Taken from the field on a stretcher after being knocked out making a tackle in rd 8. Going through concussion protocols. Source.
Tomas Lezana - Missed rd 8 with a foot injury. No word on the severity. Source. May sign soon for the Scarlets. Source.
Toni Pulu - Red carded for a shoulder charge to the head in rd 10. Banned for 3 weeks, back in rd 3 of Trans Tasman.
Brumbies
Connal McInerney - Came off with a bad ankle injury in rd 3. Has apparently fractured his fibula (and probably damaged his syndesmosis). Is expected to be out for an extended period. Source.
Jahrome Brown - Came off with a shoulder injury in rd 6 apparently his season is all but over. Source.
James Tucker - Came off with a rib injury in rd 9 that puts him in doubt for Super Rugby AU. The signing of Stowers suggests he is done for the year. Source.
Pete Samu - Suffered a knee injury and missed the grand final. Won't go on the tour to Nz. Source.
James Slipper - Reinjured his MCL in rd 10. Was desperate to play the grand final but apparently the scans showed more damage than expected. Won't go on the tour to Nz. Source.
Andy Muirhead - Came off with a right ankle injury in the grand final. Tried to play with it for 10 minutes but could not. Likely 4-8 weeks in my opinion. Won't go on the Brumbies 3 week tour of NZ. Source.Check out my twitter summary here.
Cadeyrn Neville - Injured his shoulder in the grand final and won't play in the first 3 weeks of Trans Tasman. Source.
Nic White - Misses round 1 of Trans Tasman with a hip flexor injury. Source.
Reds
Hunter Paisami - Fractured his cheek and will miss roughly 4 weeks. Means he could be back for rd 3 of Trans Tasman at the earliest. Source.
Jordan Petaia - Tore his quad in the final and will be out for 6 weeks. Source.
Rebels
Emosi Tuqiri - Out with a lower-body injury. Source.
Kailea Isaac Aedo - Suffered a shoulder injury. Not sure what he has done.
Reece Hodge - Had his knee hyperextended by Anstee in rd 8. Tore his MCL and expected to be out for 10-12 weeks. Source.
Dane Haylett-Petty - Concussion symptoms returned in Grand final week at training without a head knock. Source.
Waratahs
Robbie Abel - Has an ankle injury and isn't back training two weeks out from round 1. Source.
Joey Walton - Limped off with an ankle injury in rd 1. Could miss up to three months so we might not see him again this season. Source.
Sam Wykes - Suffered an elbow/ bicep injury in rd 6. Not sure of the severity but it looked sore! Source.
James Ramm - Dislocated his shoulder in SR AU rd 10, no word on if he is having an operation yet, but he should miss at least 6 weeks. Source.
Rahboni Warren-Vosayaco - Back from Japan. Was hoping to play rd 2 but is still recovering from an ankle injury. Source.
NEW ZEALAND
Toni Brown has let out that there is no set plan to rest All Blacks this year - Source.
Highlanders
Daniel Lienert-Brown (Highlanders) - Came off with a bad-looking shoulder injury. Aiming to be back near the end of Trans Tasman. Source.
Chiefs
Laghlan McWhannell - Currently has a knee injury which we assume is still the patella tendon debridement from last year. Word is that he has had further surgery. Missed all of 2020 and now has had an injury replacement brought in so we assume he is out for some time. Source.
Quinn Tupaea - Ruptured his MCL (knee) in rd 7. He will be out for up to 8 weeks. Source.
Sean Wainui - Came off with a hamstring injury in rd 10 and was still out for round 1 of Trans Tasman. Source.
Mitch Brown - Picked up an ankle sprain before half time and isn't available this week coming. Source.
Hurricanes
Jamie Booth - Tore his MCL and PCL in his knee, plus fractured his tibial plateau (surface of his knee joint). Had an operation in October. Aiming to play for the Turbo's in preason on July 23. Source.
Ardie Savea - Damaged his MCL in rd 6 and is said to be out for 6-8 weeks. Targeting Rd 4 of Trans Tasman. No chance of playing rd 2. Source.
Crusaders
Joe Moody - Apparently out for 4-5 months with an injury to his plantarfascia. Source.
Blues
Ray Niuia – Had a knee injury that cost him his 2020 season. Still struggling with a knee injury this year. Source.
Josiah Maraku - Listed as injured before the last preseason game. No other details yet. Source.
Sam Darry - Is injured and won't play in rd 1 of Trans Tasman No more details yet. Source.
Gone for the season:
Andrew Makalio (Crusaders) - has been ruled out of the 2021 Super Rugby season due to a neck injury. Source.
Tom Christie (Crusaders) - Dislocated his shoulder in rd 3 and will have surgery. He won't play again this year. Return to sport is roughly 6 months. Source.
Jack Goodhue (Crusaders) - Has torn his ACL, PCL and MCL against the Hurricanes and won't play rugby again in 2021 as he goes under the knife. Source.
Jermaine Ainsley (Highlanders) - Ruled out for the majority of SR Aotearoa due to a high ankle sprain sustained the week before the first trial. Source.
Fetuli Paea (Highlanders) - Ruled out of the rest of the season after injuring his ankle in the last preseason trial. Source.
Freedom Vahaakolo (Highlanders) - Broke his left foot in training during the week and is out for the season. Source.
Thomas Umaga-Jenson (Highlanders) - Out for the season after breaking his arm in rd 6. Expected to recover in 12 weeks. Source.
Folau Fakatava (Highlanders) - Ruptured his ACL and he will be gone for the season. Source.
Connor Garden-Bachop (Highlanders) - Broke his wrist and is out for the rest of the season. Source.
Liam Squire (Highlanders) - Has flared up his knee injury and is out for the season. Source.
Marino Mikaele-Tu'u (Highlanders) - Was ruled out for the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his leg. Source.
Simon Hickey (Hurricanes) - Tore his ACL in preseason and will miss the entire 2021 season. Orbyn Leger is likely to get a full contract as injury cover. Source.
Jackson Garden-Bachop (Hurricanes) - Had surgery on his achilles tear, ruling him out for up to 9 months. Source.
James Parsons (Blues) - Retiring on medical advice, after being out of the game for several months from a head injury. Source.
Jone Macalai (Blues) - Listed as injured before the last preseason game. apparently out for the year. Source.
Dillon Hunt (Blues) - Listed as injured before the last preseason game. Apparently out with a long-term concussion. Source.
Emoni Narawa (Blues) - Gone for all of Trans Tasman with an unkown injury. Source
Etene Nanai-Seturo (Chiefs) - Will not play Trans Tasman after going back to sevens. Source.
Kini Naholo (Chiefs) - Will miss the entire 2021 Super Rugby campaign with injury.
Sam Cane (Chiefs) - Ruptured his pec tendon in rd 4, had surgery and is gone for six months. Source.
Kaylum Boshier (Chiefs) - Dislocated his shoulder in rd 9 and will have a reconstruction operation. Out for 6 months. Source.
Mitchell Karpik (Chiefs) - Suffered a knee injury and is having an arthroscopy (surgery) which will rule him out for 2-3 months. We suspect it would be a meniscus injury given the time frame. Source.
Simon Parker (Chiefs) - Had surgery on April 15th for a plantar plate repair (under his big toe), is expected to be out for 6 months. Source.
Solomon Alaimalo (Chiefs) - As of rd 6 he is not training with the squad as he deals with some personal issues. Has now been replaced for Trans Tasman. Source.
Julian Montoya (Western Force) - Couldn't get a visa for his wife so is no longer join the Force. He is joining Leicester Tigers instead. Source.
Rhys van Nek (Rebels) - The young prop is out for the season with a hamstring injury. Source.
