This years OG League is back and better than ever with the return of finals regular Blake "the Weatherman" having failed to execute his sabbatical year due to COVID.
Similar to last years post-COVID season, we only had 2 substitutes to pick alongside the starting fifteen. One forward reserve, one back reserve.
Deciding the Draft Order
This year Super Rugby AU round 1 was staged before Draft Rugby actually started, meaning we could use it to create a randomly generated draft match-up to decide the all important draft order.

Draft Punishments 2021
THE SACKO
This year we decided to relive the greatness that was the 2019 Sacko punishment. After bringing us a year of enjoyment we just couldn't resist going round again!

THE SPOON
We also agreed upon a spoon punishment, yes thats correct we have two punishments. The Sacko is the lowest ranked league member at the end of the regular season but we then go into the finals playoffs for the top 4 (redraft and head to head 1v4, 2v3) and also the Wooden Spoon playoff for the 7th and 8th placed manager. This is to ensure no one trails off towards the end of the season. This year we have kept things simple by having the Spoon's name engraved on the wooden spoon trophy.
The 2021 DRAFT
This year the OG League draft took place the night before Super Rugby Aotearoa 2021 kicked off (also before SR AU rd 2), this year landing on Thursday the 25th of February. This year with all games taking place on Fridays and Saturdays, it means all team line-ups were out!
The biggest challenge in any Draft is how to value all start injured players, this year it was particularly difficult to rank David Havili due to his preseason concussion, which of course is notoriously hard to predict a return date.
