Round 2 Fixtures:
Round 3 of Super Rugby Pacific was filled with some historic moments.
The long awaited First game for the mighty Moana Pasifika, who had a tough initiation to super rugby with a visit to Canterbury, but they can be proud of their showing after a strong performance in their loss.
The Mighty Fijian Drua Sailed to victory over a hapless Melbourne Rebels.
But these results are irrelevant compared to the plight of the main competitors of Super Rugby Pasifika, the 8 Team Draft Championship!
First match of the round was a tight win for Harry over Blakes team, whose team of superstars unfortunately still on post season sabbaticals. The return of the lively Richie Mounga, whilst Harrys best friend now, will be his enemy come test season, ultimately proved the difference in this matchup. Blakes team can take a positive from this week, as Reese Hodge finish with negative points this week.
The second matchup between Chrissy and Nelson, proved to be another win for the away teams. Angus Bell proving his worth, top scoring from props this week with 72 points. Also proving he is a ball hog, limiting his Waratahs front row team mate to 17 points. Consistent showings across Nelsons team, particularly in the backs proving the difference in a strong showing. Nelsons team looking good this season. A team packed full of Rebels flops ultimately hurt Chrissy’s teams chances. Stat of the round goes to Angus Bell, scoring 72 points, equal to Chrissy’s entire tight 5 combined!
Noobum got pipped in this weeks tightest contest of the round by Calendar, who is hoping a few more strong wins will regain his actual name. Strong performances by Chiefs and Highlanders players in losing sides helped Calender to a strong victory. Incredibly, Calender had 2 players fail to register a point, and 2 others in single digits. Noobums respectable 375 would be good enough to win on most days, unfortunately a few lopsided results this week. Richard Kahui and Ardie Savea proving to be strong performers again, leading the team in points with strong showings.
The only home win of the week goes to Cargies over NSync, Cargies strong contingent of Pacific Islander players proving the difference in this game. Special Mention to Brad Weber who top scored for Cargie, backed up by a strong team performance getting them over the line. Pablo Matera, an unlikely first round pick, has once again proved us all wrong, and proving his worth, and first round pick with a team best performance, however the positives run out here as the rest of the teams performances where not nsync with Materas.
This weeks match ups see Chrissy trying to return to the winners circle against the high flying Harry Moungas. Richie is starting this week and looking to score plenty of points.
Noobum playing Blake, whos welcoming back some heavy hitters, Anton Leinert Brown and Reese Hodge. Hodgy hoping to not get sent of this week, a try or 4 might help him reach positive figures for the first time this season. Can Kahui push Noobum over for the win the pine, benched after scoring 46 points last week (WTF!!)
Cargie and Nelson do battle for the first time this season, Can Angus overcome the Polynesian flair of Cargies team to get two wins in a row. Or will Nelsons Aussie Allstars get the W! Angus Bell a chance to lead from the front again, or will he pass the ball around and let someone else take some hit ups.
Final Match of the round seeing Nsync battle Calender. Both have picked strong teams, either of them can win this arm wrestle. Calender hoping this week, that more than 11 players actually score points, and Nsync hoping to bounce back from last weeks loss with some more Argentinian Flair!
