OG League 2022 - The Draft
It's a new year and with it the OG League is back! We welcome a new Blake. A diehard rugby fan himself, kiwi grown, Blake had to fight his every instinct to avoid picking Beauden Barrett first. Our OG Blake will now be referred to as "Calender" or the month of the year given he is now our newest Sexy Calendar model for 2022/23. Pictures to come as soon as possible.
With two new teams joining Super Rugby Pacific this year we have reverted back to a full complement of reserves, reverting to a full side of 23 players. The subs bench is now made up of one of each position, a prop, hooker, lock, backrower, scrum-half, fly-half, centre, and an outside back.
Deciding the Draft Order
This year we used the Rumba drafting system seen here. The first ball sunk got 8th pick, the last man standing got the first draft pick.
1st Pick - Blake
2nd Pick - Nelson
3rd Pick - Blake
4th Pick - Champ (Nabung)
5th Pick - Harry
6th Pick - Nsync
7th Pick - Cargie
8th Pick - Noobum
Draft Punishments 2022
THE SACKO
This year's loser will recreate a music video of the champ's choice. The idea was inspired by this amazing clip found on youtube.
THE SPOON
We will also continue with our spoon punishment. The Sacko is the lowest ranked league member at the end of the regular season but we then go into the finals playoffs for the top 4 (redraft and head to head 1v4, 2v3) and also the Wooden Spoon playoff for the 7th and 8th placed manager. This is to ensure no one trails off towards the end of the season. This year we will once again have the Spoon's name engraved on the wooden spoon trophy.
The 2022 DRAFT
For the first time in 2022 OG League draft took place the weekend before Super Rugby Pacific kicked off, this year landing on Saturday the 12th of February. This created a completely unique challenge for us because no team lineups had been released to base our picks off.
This mean that two resources become more important than ever. The first of which is the Super Rugby Pacific Casualty Ward which details all the player injuries, and is updated daily. The second was a new initiative, our predicted round 1 lineups which can be found on youtube and our social media channels.
Here is the top 30 of our draft picks, I'll post the entire draft at the bottom of this post. Keep in mind this is a snake draft.
