Returned from Injury in Rd 9
Oliver Jager (Crusaders) – Back from his shoulder injury off the bench.
Ataata Moeakiola (Chiefs) - Returned from a neck injury, came on early in the second half for D Mac, played out of his skin and made a big difference.
Jed Brown (Blues) – Got his first run of the season off the bench after missing the early season with a calf injury.
Chris Feauai-Sautia (Reds) - Tore a hamstring before round 7, played back in his 13 jersey.
Angus Scott-Young (Reds) - Back from a concussion in rd 7 to take his spot on the bench.
Rory Arnold (Brumbies) - Recovered from a shoulder injury in round 6 to start in the second row.
Wilco Louw (Stormers) - Recovered from an ankle injury to start at prop.
RG Snyman (Bulls) – Had his first run of the season after ankle surgery, killed it!
Marco van Staden (Bulls) - First run of the season for van Staden, scored a try and looked good.
Warrick Gelant (Bulls) - Picked up a shoulder injury in round 5, played in the 15 jersey this week.
Jean-Luc du Preez (Sharks) – Came off the bench after recovering from groin injury.

New Injuries Rd 9:
Matt Faddes (Highlanders) - Came off with a knee injury last week. Named to start this week regardless. Source.
Rob Thompson (Highlanders) - Missing round 10 for family reasons. Source.
Damian McKenzie (Chiefs) - Has torn his ACL and will be having a reconstruction in the next few weeks. Out for the season and the RWC. Source.
Brodie Retallick (Chiefs) - Copped a shoulder stinger in the dying stages. Also had a wrist injury, rested for round 10. Source.
Nathan Harris (Chiefs) - Replaced with a knee injury. Being rested in round 10. Source.
Solomon Alaimalo (Chiefs) - Pulled up with a tight hamstring after training so will be rested this week. Source.
Israel Folau (Waratahs) - Stood down by both Rugby Australia and the Waratahs for offensive posts on social media. Having a code of conduct hearing, most likely during the week after round 11. It would then take 5 days make a final decision on his future. Source.
Kurtley Beale (Waratahs) - Struggling with tonsillitis but expected to train Thursday and play on the weekend. Source.
Scott Sio (Brumbies) - Came off after 50 minutes with what looked like quite a bad ankle injury. Named to start round 11 so it must not have been too bad.
Lachlan McCaffrey (Brumbies) - Aggravated his medial ligament in his knee. Won't play this week, no word about next week. Source.
Angus Cottrell (Rebels) - Copped a concussion at training this week. Won't play in round 10. Source.
Amanaki Mafi (Sunwolves) - Spending round 10 and 11 with the international squad. Source.
Jaco Coetzee (Stormers) - Came off with a knee injury. Apparently just a bony bruise of the knee cap. Back after 2-3 weeks. Source.
Herschel Jantjies (Stormers) - Knee flared up after the game. Having a scan to see what's going on. Sounds like he is unlikely to play. Source.
Matías Moroni (Jaguares) - Suffered a blow that caused a nasal obstruction and will undergo surgery to drain it. Estimated return for rd 12 against the Stormers. Source.
Courtnall Skosan (Lions) - Returned to South Africa as his father is gravely ill. Tyrone Green will fly to NZ as cover. Source.
Makazole Mapimpi (Sharks) - Came off just after half time. Is being rested in round 10, apparently not injured. Source.
Likely back for this week (Rd 10):
Luke Whitelock (Highlanders) - Came off late with a slight calf tear in rd 8. On the bench this week. Source.
Aaron Smith (Highlanders) - Originally out for six weeks with an ankle sprain (rds 11-12). But named on the bench this week. Source.
Jack Debreczeni (Chiefs) - Concussion round 6. Starting at full back this week.
Atu Moli (Chiefs) – Pulled pre-game rd 1 with an elbow injury. Playing his first game off the bench this week.
Michael Allardice (Chiefs) - Ruled out of round 9 with a back injury, named to start this week. Source.
Liam Polwart (Chiefs) – Had a preseason concussion. Making his first appearance this week.
Mitch Brown (Chiefs) - Ruled out of round 9 with injury, may be back this week. Source.
James Marshall (Hurricanes) – Confirmed to have dislocated his shoulder in rd 1. Back on the bench this week.
Billy Proctor (Hurricanes) - Recovered from a shoulder injury we didn't know he had to take his place on the bench. Source.
Shambeckler Vui (Waratahs) – Played Shute shield for Southern Districts in round 8. Should return after the bye.
Jed Holloway (Waratahs) - Rib injury round 6. Named to start this week.
Tolu Latu (Waratahs) – Back from a 6 week ban. See the video of why he was banned here.
Curtis Rona (Waratahs) - Picked up a minor groin injury before round 7. Said he would be back this week on twitter.
Ned Hanigan (Waratahs) - Suffered an MCL injury against the Blues two weeks ago. Originally thought to be right for this week but now listed as unlikely this week or next. Basically this means he was a grade 2 injury, not a grade 1. Source.
Jack Maddocks (Rebels) - Out of round 9 with a patella tendinopathy. Expected back this week. Source.
Matt Philip (Rebels)- Missing round 9 with a tear to his plantar fascia. He said in an interview pregame rd 9 that he "hoped" he would be back in round 10.
Anaru Rangi (Rebels) - Has an ankle issue so won't be played in rd 9, likely back this week. Source.
Rahboni Warren-Vosayaco (Sunwolves) - Came off with ice on his ribs and missed rd 7. Named to play round 10.
Kwagga Smith (Lions) - Tore a groin tendon in round 5, out for 6 weeks. Gone on tour for round 9 though so could be back earlier than round 11. Source.
Warren Whiteley (Lions) – Flying to join the team for rd 10 after recovering from a pec injury. Source.
Siya Kolisi (Stormers) - Sent home from the tour to have a rest for round 9. No injury so should play rd 10. Source.
Pieter-Steph du Toit (Stormers) - Flown back to Cape Town after rd 8 for paternity leave.
Marius Louw (Sharks) - Banned for 3 weeks for a high tackle on Tom English. Back round 10. Source.
Sbu Nkosi (Sharks) - Named to start round 10. Source.
Paul de Wet (Stormers) - The scrum-half is fit again, may play Stormers or for the development side this week. Source.
JJ Engelbrecht (Stormers) - Recovered from injury and may be in the squad this week. Source.
Ali Vermaak (Stormers) – Expected to be back after the tour (rd 10) due to his neck injury. Source.

Ongoing Injury List:
NEW ZEALAND
All Blacks are expected to miss two weeks during the Super Rugby season.
All Blacks are also not meant to play more than 6 game weeks in a row.
Highlanders
Kalolo Tuiloma – The prop is unavailable due to injury. No more news yet. Source here.
Liam Squire – Was close to returning from a hip injury but has damaged his MCL ligament (Knee) in training before round 6 and is expected to be out for up to 10 weeks. If he doesn’t need an op I’d suggest he will be back in 8. Source.
Waisake Naholo - Injured his knee at training before round 8. He has a grade 2 (of 3) MCL tear and will be out for 4-6 weeks. Source.
Marty Banks - Suffered a broken bone in his foot in rd 8 and will be unavailable for four to six weeks. Source.
Hurricanes
The Hurricanes in 2018 wouldn’t play anyone that isn’t fit to play fully on Monday of the game week.
Andries Ferreira - Suffered another knee injury. Has been sent back to South Africa to recover. At this stage he is not going to play with the Hurricanes, but they haven't ruled out something in the future. Source.
Alex Fidow - Named to play in the Hurricane Hunters in round 10. You'd think he should be back available for selection from round 11. Source.
Nehe Milner-Skudder – Injured his shoulder on November 3. Recovering slower than expected and aiming for round 10-11. Source.
Toby Smith - Had an ankle injury in round 5, back round 10-11. Source.
Gareth Evans – Has a calf strain from rd 2, As of round 10 he was still "a week or two away". Source.
Dane Coles - Strained his calf mid week before rd 7. Ruled out again for round 8, hopefully back after the bye, not named for rd 10. Source.
Chiefs
The Chiefs in 2018 – “There was a team policy this year to give injured players an extra week to ensure they were fully fit.”
Sam Cane – Fractured his neck against South Africa last year. Started contact work after round 8. Targeting a late April, early May return. Source.
Kane Hames – Still going through concussion protocols from last year, expected to play “very soon”, but no clear time line. Source here.
Aidan Ross - Ruled out of round 9 and 10 with a neck injury. Source.
Crusaders
Tim Perry – Broke his forearm Badly, needed a pin and plate. Apparently his season could be over. They are hoping he could he is back by rd 18 at the earliest. Source here.
George Bridge - Pulled pregame with a tight hamstring/ knee injury as a precaution before rd 7. Given the extra week (rd 9) before the bye to recover. Source.
Codie Taylor - Pulled pregame rd 9 with a tight calf, will be given the extra week to recover before playing after the bye. Source.
Owen Franks - Having a scan on his shoulder after injuring it last week. Won't play rd 11, could miss more. Source.
Blues
Jimmy Tupou – ACL reconstruction mid May 2018, “still working back from it”, standard rehab of 9 months would put him back around mid Feb, but that can vary a lot. Source here.
Stephen Perofeta – Preseason pec muscle injury, apparently he could be gone for 16 weeks! Season pretty much gone….
Leni Apisai – Neck
Ezekiel Lindenmuth – Knee
Jacob Pierce – Ankle
Jordan Trainor – Thigh
Tanielu Tele’a - Red carded late for tackling Leyds in the air rd 7. Banned for 4 weeks. Source.
Sonny Bill Williams - Missed round 8 with a knee injury. Now had an arthroscopy (clean out) and will miss "at least six weeks", this is definitely longer than normal so should be a cause for concern. Source.
Blake Gibson - Took a direct hit to his knee and had to come off. Now ruled out of round 9 and 10 as well. Source.

AUSTRALIA
The Australian sides have reached a “handshake agreement” with Rugby Australia to rest their Wallabies throughout the year. Most likely one or two weeks, but it is worth knowing when comparing to last seasons efforts. Source here.
Brumbies
Rob Valetini - Dislocated knee cap in rd 5, will be out for 6-8 weeks. Source.
David Pocock – Named in the tour squad but didn't recover from his calf tear to play round 10. Expected back round 11. Source.
Reds
James Tuttle – Ruptured his Achilles tendon in the NRC during late October last year. Recovery is an absolute minimum of 6 months, more likely 8-9 months (as per SBW and Slipper) which puts him at a return in May at the absolute earliest, more likely late June/ July. Probably his season gone! Source here.
Feao Fotuaika - Out for round 7 after fracturing his thumb. Source.
Caleb Timu - Banned for 5 weeks during rd 7 for punching someone in a club game of footy.
Filipo Daugunu - Broke his forearm in rd 8, so most likely out for six weeks.
Rebels
Jordan Uelese – Still recovering from a knee reconstruction. Ruptured his ACL in June, a 9 month recovery therefore puts his return date around early March. Source here.
Matt Toomua – Playing for Leicester until at least the 18th of May. Has apparently asked for an early release that was denied. Won’t be back before round 15 at the earliest.
Dane Haylett-Petty - Ruptured a ligament in his toe at the end of round 5. Said he was still 2-3 weeks away before round 9.
Waratahs
Tom Robertson – ACL reconstruction (knee) in mid October. Will rule him out for 6-9 months (normally 9), so we could see him anywhere from mid April to mid July. Source here.

SOUTH AFRICA
Sharks
Tyler Paul – Injured early against the Stormers in rd 3, no info on what he has done.
Ruan Botha - Suffered a foot injury against the Stormers. Won't be right for rd 7. Source.
Craig Burden - Pulled pregame rd 6 with a hamstring tear, recovered in time to play but then injured his bicep in the same week and had to have surgery! Expected to be gone for 8-12 weeks. Source.
Akker van der Merwe - Red carded for punching on with Schalk. Banned for 3 weeks so he will be back in rd 11. Source.
Stormers
Ramone Samuels – Severe Knee injury in August of last year. No definite come back date yet. Source here.
EW Viljoen – Had surgery for a stress fracture. Back training and will play for the development side in round 10. Source.
Sikhumbuzo Notshe – Shoulder injury. Playing for the development side in round 10. Expected to be back for round 11. Source.
Daniel du Plessis - Right knee injury. News has gotten worse for Dan, before round 10 they said he will "be out for a while". Source.
Eben Etzebeth - Has a calf injury. Still not in the clear for round 10. Source.
Chris van Zyl - Ruled out for at least six weeks due to a back injury in rd 8 (back rd 15). Source.
SP Marais - Injured his hip flexor trying to convert the Stormers last try in rd 8. Sent home from tour so at least won't play round 9. Source.
Jano Vermaak - The scrum half is likely back in the next two weeks (as of before round 10). Source.
JD Schickerling - Subbed early after re-aggravating an AC joint injury in round 6. Originally targeting a round 10 return, but before the game he was said to be out for a while longer. Source.
Bulls
Edgar Marutlulle – Injured his achilles. Before round 6 his injury had been extended to more than six weeks away. Source.
Marnitz Boshoff – Originally expected back in April. More than six weeks from Rd 6. Source.
Dayan van der Westhuizen - Knee injury round 6. Will be out for 6 weeks. Source.
Schalk Brits - Red carded for punching on with Akkers in round 7. Confirmed as a 4 week ban. Source.
Marco Jansen van Vuren - On the long term injury list. More than six weeks from Rd 6. Source.
Eli Snyman - Went off with a grade 3 AC joint injury to his shoulder in rd 8. Out for at least six weeks. Source.
Ruan Steenkamp - Concussed and fractured his jaw in rd 8. Out for at least 4 weeks. Source.
Lions
Lourens Erasmus – Fractured Tibia and Fibula through the ankle, 6-9 months recovery puts him back around June/ July so he could miss the entire season. Source here.
Len Massyn – Shoulder injury, aiming to be back in April. Source here.
Robbie Coetzee – Still recovering from a long term injury. No timeline for a return yet, but won’t be right for rd 2. Source here.
Dylan Smith - Actually broke his cheek bone in round 5. Out for 8-12 weeks. Source.
Vince Tshituka - Ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury. from round 5 Source.
Dillon Smit - Hamstring injury. Took a knock in training before round 5 and will only be available for selection again in the next four to six weeks. Source.
Jacobie Adriaanse - Hamstring injury as of before rd 9. Source.

Jaguares
Bautista Delguy (Jaguares) - Had surgery for an ankle injury after round 5 and has been ruled out for 4 months. Gone for the season. Source.
Martín Landajo - Suffered a fractured jaw in round 5. Having an operation this week and should be back in 30-40 days (roughly round 10). Source here.
Joaquin Diaz Bonilla - Tore his quad in round 7, will be out for three weeks (back rd 11). Source.
Ramiro Moyano - It sounds like he took a shot around his back or Kidney's in rd 8. Was discharged (we guess from hospital) and has been sent home from the tour. Source.
Lucio Sordoni - Tore his quad in rd 8 and has been sent home from the tour. Source.
Sunwolves
20 players are in an international camp from Feb 2 to March 1 so are unlikely to feature in the first 3 rounds of the year. Source here. UPDATE: Apparently they are expected back around week 6.
Craig Millar – Suffered a fracture and dislocation in his left foot. Will be out for 12 weeks starting rd 3. Source here.
Ed Quirk – Tore the MCL on the inside of his knee. Requires an operation and 8-10 weeks off (20th April- 5th May). Source here.
Shane Gates – Broke through his lower leg in round 3. If he broke both bones as it looked, he will be going for surgery and should be gone for a significant period of time. Source here.
Phil Burleigh – Pulled from his 23 jersey pregame round 4 with an injury. We have no idea what it is.
Michael Little - Concussed in rd 5. Flown to NZ for round 8 because he was close to being cleared but then didn't play. Now not even named for Rd 10. Hopefully we get an update after their captains run. Source.

Aki Seiuli (Highlanders) – Apparently out for the season.
Richard Buckman (Highlanders) -Having an operation on an Achilles tear, out for the season. Source.
Tevita Nabura (Highlanders) - Suffered a season ending knee injury. Source.
Mitchell Graham (Chiefs) – Fractured his tibia and fibula back in the 2017 Brisbane Tens, still unsure of a comeback date as he works with specialists to stop his leg pain. Source here 28th November. He still can’t run and doesn’t have a squad spot for 2019.
Tiaan Falcon (Chiefs) – Ruptured his Achilles tendon and is gone for the entire season. This means a big increase in minutes for Debreczini, and now Stephen Donald has been signed up. Source here.
Sam Lousi (Hurricanes) – Torn his pec muscle, having an operation and is out for the year. Source here.
Vince Aso (Hurricanes) – His round 4 pec injury will now rule him out for the season. Source.
Manasa Mataele (Crusaders) – It has finally been confirmed that his season is over after rupturing his ACL. Hopefully he is back terrorising defences next season. Source here.
Israel Dagg (Crusaders) – Officially retired from rugby at age 30 due to his arthritic knee.
Tom Sanders (Crusaders) -Dislocated his shoulder in round 6. He has had surgery before round 8 and won't be back for six months. Source.
Ben Hyne (Brumbies) – Re-tore his ACL just before Christmas, will likely miss the full season. Source here.
Jordan Petaia (Reds) – Has a Lisfranc injury from rd 3. Likely out for the season.
Sean McMahon (Sunwolves) – Is having preseason foot surgery on a Lisfranc injury which rules him out for the year. As a result his contract has been cancelled with the Sunwolves. Source here. Shota Horie (Sunwolves) – Had surgery on his right foot to treat a stress fracture. His return is not clear at this stage, however he is targeting playing in the Pacific Nations Cup in July. Source here.
Rene Ranger (Sunwolves) – Did his ACL trying to step off his right leg in rd 1. Gone for the season.
Garth April (Bulls) – Required surgery on his shoulder and probably won’t be seen for the season.
Lood de Jager (Bulls)– Will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby season to get shoulder surgery. He is out for 4-5 months so we expect he needs either a shoulder reconstruction or pec muscle repair. Source here.
Gonzalo Bertranou (Jaguares) – Dislocated his shoulder and is having an operation on the 22nd of February. No return date has been set, but generally it is a five month lay off (mid July at the earliest). Source here.
